1. LPG in packed form is handled through cylinders
specially designed for the purpose. LPG
cylinder provides storage in convenient size and facilitates easy
transportation at bottling plant, distributor’s premises and customer’s
premises. It Is also convenient for use
by domestic and commercial customers.
For
the design / manufacture, filling, checking, handling repairs, etc., of LPG
cylinders, the rules and conditions of the “Gas cylinder Rules, 1981” MUST be complied with.
DESIGN-
LPG cylinders are manufactured as per Bureau of
Indian Standards (BIS) specification No. IS: 3196 (Part-I) 1992 and are
inspected and certified by BIS officials and thereafter, approved by the Chief
Controller of Explosives (CCOE), Nagpur
Before certification, as a part
of the inspection, the cylinders are hyrostaticallyd tested to a test pressure
of 2.45 MPa and after the valve is fitted, they are pneumatically tested to a
pressure of 0.98 MPa.
